What Home shows you, for students and for doctors and general managers, and what each part is for.

In short
Home is built around one shift: the one running now or, if none, the next one.
Students see that shift’s checklist, Check in, their next shift and Open spots.
Doctors and general managers also see Needs you: early check-ins to approve and anything else that needs them, only when there is something.
The shift at the top
The title tells you where you stand. While a shift runs it’s the shift itself, such as Evening shift. Before it starts it reads like Tomorrow: Day at 8:00 am. Students see their own shifts. Doctors and general managers see the ward’s.
The title (1) names the shift. Tap it to open the shift’s own page. The line under it (2) says when the shift ends and who is on it, such as “Until 10:00 pm · with Dana”, or, before it starts, its hours and how long until it begins.A student’s Home during a shift.

4The checklist
When you’re on the shift, Check in(3) shows from 3 hours before it starts. One tap records your arrival. If you’re early or late, Relay asks for a short reason first.
The checklist (4) holds the shift’s tasks. Tap a task to tick it as done, and tap again to untick. The count above it, such as “6 of 13 done”, goes up as the team works through it. A task shows one mark at most, such as Today or Urgent. Doctors and general managers add tasks with Add task at the end of the list.
In the shift’s last hour, a line at the bottom of the card tells you where open tasks go, for example “In 40m, 2 open tasks move to Night”. Nothing gets lost: open tasks roll over to the next shift.
A student sees the next shift’s checklist as a preview. Ticking starts when the shift does.
When everything is done, the card says so: All done. Nothing rolls over.
Next
Next lists the next three shifts, each with its day and start time (Tonight, Tomorrow, then dates) and its people; On now shows on a shift that is running. Tap a shift to open it, or Full schedule for the Shifts page. Students see one line: their own next shift.
Open spots (students)
When you already have a shift, a line at the end of Home says when a shift in the next 7 days has a free place, for example 3 open spots this week. Tap it to open the week on Shifts.
Under Open spots(1), tap Join(2) next to the shift you want.Open spots on a student’s Home.

You’re on it right away: the card says You’re on …, and the shift becomes yours on Home. Tapped the wrong one? Tap Undo straight away.
With no shift of your own, the title reads You’re not on a shift, and Find a shift opens the week’s schedule.
For doctors and general managers
Home adds one card for the people who run the ward: Needs you. It shows only when something waits for you, one line each. When you’ve cleared it, it says All caught up. Nothing else waits for approval.
Early check-ins and check-outs (1) come first: the person, how early, and their reason, with Approve and Decline. Undo stays for a few seconds. Only the first one is open; the rest wait behind a row like “2 more”. Your own check-in always goes to another doctor or general manager.
Changes from Claude to review, such as “A change from Claude to review”. Tap the row to check each change, then approve or decline it.
Short-staffed shifts (2): a shift in the next 48 hours with too few people, for example “Evening tomorrow: 1 of 2 staffed”. Tap it to open the shift.
Tasks with nowhere to roll: open tasks left on a shift that ended with no next shift to move to.
Overdue event steps: steps from patient events that are past their day. Tap to see them on Events.
Tasks that keep rolling over: open tasks that have moved 3 or more times. That’s a sign they need a decision.
A stopped service, such as “Reminders stopped on 2 Nov” when reminders or calendar sync stop working. Doctors can tap it to open System status.

Always up to date
There’s no need to reload. While a shift is running, Home refreshes itself every minute, and again when you come back to Relay after a while. A co-worker’s ticks and newly added tasks just appear.
If Home ever says Couldn’t load your shifts, your schedule hasn’t changed. It’s a loading problem. Try again in a moment.
