Getting started
Sign in to Relay
Sign in with your Google account, what the invitation is for, and how to switch language.
Install Relay on your phone
Add Relay to your home screen so it opens like an app, and what happens when the connection drops.
Your Home screen
What Home shows you, for students and for doctors and general managers, and what each part is for.
Students
Join a shift, or leave one
Find a shift with a free place, join it in one tap, and release it if your plans change before it starts.
Check in and out of a shift
Record when you arrive and leave, what happens if you’re early or late, and what “waiting for approval” means.
The shift checklist
Tick tasks off, undo a tick, and read the labels: tasks carried from the last shift, due dates, who a task is for, and urgent patient-event tasks.
Notifications, reminders and quiet hours
What Relay tells you about, where to read it, which emails you get, and how to keep nights quiet.
General managers
Plan the week’s shifts
Create shifts from your templates, see the open spots at a glance, and copy last week’s people onto the new week.
Assign people to shifts
Put students and general managers on a shift, see clashes before they happen, take someone off, and move on to the next open spot.
Approve check-ins and export attendance
Approve or decline early arrivals and early leaves, read the week’s attendance, and download it as a spreadsheet.
Invite people to the team
Add someone’s email, choose their role, send them the sign-in link, and manage invites that haven’t been used yet.
Task tags, due dates and common tasks
Say who a task is for and when it’s due, keep a list of the tasks you add often, and give each template a default checklist.
Treatments and protocols
Protocols: the steps around a procedure
Write down once what has to happen before, on the day of and after a procedure, so every event gets its steps by itself.
Events and case codes
Add a procedure by its case code, follow its steps on a timeline, and move or cancel it. Patient details never go into Relay.
Automatic events from Google Calendar
Connect the clinic’s appointments calendar once, add a tag like
[rhinoplasty]
to an appointment, and Relay creates the event and all its steps by itself.
Shifts in Google Calendar
Send every shift, with who is on it and its checklist, to a “Relay Shifts” calendar in Google, and share it with the team.
Connect Claude to Relay
Ask Claude about your shifts and tasks in plain words, from claude.ai, the Claude apps or Claude Code. Claude sees only what you can see.
System status
Check whether reminders, notifications and calendar sync are working, and what to do when they aren’t.
