Shifts in Google Calendar
Send every shift, with who is on it and its checklist, to a “Relay Shifts” calendar in Google, and share it with the team.
Last updated:
In short
- A doctor connects it once in Team → Calendar → Connect Google Calendar.
- Relay keeps a “Relay Shifts” calendar in that doctor’s Google account up to date: one event per shift, with the names and the checklist.
- The team sees it once the doctor shares that calendar with them in Google Calendar.
What it does
This is the opposite direction from the appointments calendar: Relay writes its shifts into Google, so people can see them next to their own calendar. (To turn appointments into events, see Automatic events from Google Calendar.)
- Relay creates a calendar called “Relay Shifts” in the Google account of the doctor who connects it. It never touches that doctor’s other calendars.
- Each shift is one event, “Relay Shift — Noa Cohen, Yosef Amar”, with the names of the people on it.
- The event’s description holds the shift’s template and its checklist: open tasks with ○, done tasks with ✓.
- It updates by itself, a few seconds after a shift, its roster or its checklist changes. A deleted shift’s event is removed.
- When you connect, the shifts of the next 8 weeks are sent at once.
