Roles: who can do what
What students, general managers and doctors can each do in Relay, in one table.
Last updated:
In short
- Relay has three roles: Student, General manager and Doctor. Your role decides which pages and buttons you see.
- Students work their shifts. General managers also plan the shifts and run the team day to day. Doctors can do everything, including a few doctor-only actions.
- Only a doctor can change someone’s role.
The three roles
- Student: joins shifts, checks in and out, and ticks tasks on the shifts they’re on.
- General manager: everything a student does on a shift, plus planning shifts, putting people on them, adding tasks, approving early check-ins, inviting students, and events and protocols.
- Doctor: everything a general manager does, plus inviting anyone, changing roles, deactivating people, deleting, the shifts calendar and System health. Doctors aren’t put on shift rosters themselves.
Your role and email show under your name in your account menu: tap your picture at the top on a phone, or your name at the bottom of the sidebar on a computer. Buttons you can’t use are simply not shown, so two people can see the same page a little differently.
