Events and case codes
Add a procedure by its case code, follow its steps on a timeline, and move or cancel it. Patient details never go into Relay.

In short
- An event is one procedure, named by a case code such as
A-12. Never a name, an ID number or a phone number. - Pick a protocol when you create it, and each step lands on the checklist of the right day’s shift by itself.
- Move the event and its open steps move with it. Cancel it and they come off the checklists. Done work always stays.
Case codes, never patient details
Relay is a shift tool, not a medical record. It must never hold who the patient is. That is why an event has a Case code instead of a name: a short code your clinic can match to the patient in its own records.
- The format: 1 to 4 English letters, an optional dash, then up to 5 digits. For example
A-12orLIP-0042. Relay stores it in capitals. - Never use a name, initials that identify someone, an ID number, a phone number or a date of birth. Not in the case code, the Procedure or the Note either.
- Relay checks every field. If something looks like patient information, it says That looks like patient information, which Relay can’t store. Then use a shorter code. A code that looks like an ID or passport number, such as , is refused too. What Relay checks, and what it can’t: .
